Berlin-Brandenburg with its many high-performing companies and research facilities provides broad expertise in the development of innovative diagnostics.
The region’s dense research and clinical landscape, leading international diagnostics manufacturers and about 100 companies in the biotech sector cover the entire value-added chain for in vitro diagnostics.
The Center for Molecular Diagnostics and Bioanalysis (ZMDB) is the regional platform for technology transfer that connects basic research, technology development, clinical research and industrial application to promote the development and production of innovative diagnostics in Berlin-Brandenburg.
The ZMDB operates in close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the companies in the regional biotech industry.
The ZMDB was established to support the Joint Innovation Strategy of the states of Berlin and Brandenburg and is managed at BioTOP Berlin-Brandenburg.
Member of the European Diagnostic Clusters Alliance (EDCA)
Since December, 9th 2010 the ZMDB has been representing Berlin-Brandenburg in the new European Diagnostic Clusters Alliance as the only German region so far.
